The LAB: Wetlands SA Project supported 11 municipalities with improving local government knowledge and understanding of the value of wetlands and how wetlands can support municipalities with achieving their mandates through the provision of ecosystem services. It enabled the process of integrating of wetlands, climate resilience, and biodiversity management into local government land-use planning and decision making, as well as budgeting (through the inclusion of Wetland Strategies and Actions Plans (WSAPs) in their Integrated Development Plans (IDPs). This ensured that resilience and ecosystem management are considered and factored into development planning. The project also enabled the implementation of small-scale pilot wetland projects with selected participating municipalities.
