The project aims to enhance institutional frameworks and technical capacities within targeted local governments across South Asia towards achieving local climate and energy targets while reinforcing energy security by enabling a local “Sustainable Energy Transition (SET)”. This transition will include Renewable Energy (RE) integration and Energy Efficiency (EE) improvements and support a SET ecosystem through capacity building, engagement with the private sector, and skill development of local communities.
The key activities include:
- Develop SET roadmap and implementation plan for 2 deep-dive project cities
- Facilitate implementation of 2 pilot demonstration projects in municipal services or e-mobility (1 for each deep dive city)
- Facilitate development of 2 bankable projects in municipal services or e-mobility sectors (1 for each deep dive city)
- Support cities to prepare and submit 3 Project Information Notes (PIN)
- Strengthen local technical capacities for SET implementation through training and peer learning, with equal opportunities for gender inclusive participation.
- Knowledge dissemination workshops and peer-to-peer exchanges between US and South Asian cities
